Why Fire Safety Signs Are Essential

Why Fire Safety Signs Are Essential

Fire Emergency Assembly Points - Peter Paul Philippines Corporation
Photoluminescent Signs Philippines
Fire safety signs are essential in directing people towards safety, especially in times of fires. The provision of these signs is a legal requirement, as supported by various regulations and Philippine standards. If you happen to own a business or manages a multi-occupancy building, it is likely that you will provide for these signs.

Primarily, the use of these signs becomes crucial in identifying escape routes and emergency exits within buildings. The signs are also effective in relating vital information regarding locations of emergency fire phones and equipment. In fact, non-compliance  could mean either charges or penalties, on the part of the business owner or manager.

Fire safety signs are usually made of photo luminescent material. This feature helps in identifying signs, particularly at night. A sign should also relate information by means of clear and understandable text, making it easier for people to readily identify which directions or exits to take in times of emergencies. Aside from the Health and Safety Regulations, the use and provision of signs are also required by the government, particularly those which designate key points toward escape routes, phones and safety devices.

Fire safety standards also entail important requirements regarding fire safety signs. For instance, if owners have already installed specific signs within the building, it is best if each sign is comprehensible and has relative pictograms. The signs should also indicate clear messages by use of correct and understandable text. It is also best if all signs come in similar types. When it comes to escape route signs, it is advisable to put extra text in relating directions. The use of clear and visible arrows is also necessary in identifying fire exits within buildings. A special exit sign is also used to indicate exit points, which are meant only for emergencies.

Moreover, it is best if each sign is identifiable and easy to read. The same aspect also applies to signs made of luminescent material, as these are easier to identify and see. There are also requirements associated to signs and its relative sizes. Ideal locations are also identified by regulations and standards set in the Philippines. Guidelines and instructions are also given to assist owners, in terms of finding possible and ideal locations for their signs and equipment.

Fire safety in businesses and industries are defined by regulations and laws. Compliance also serves as the main idea behind these requirements, to ensure safety and protection. Aside from firefighting equipment, the use of signs likewise serves as acts of prevention. The procedures and preventive measures, as designated by the law, become necessary in maintaining a safe working environment for both owners and employees. In addition, it is always best to remember that fire authorities are willing to provide you with information regarding signs and safety equipment. All you need is to contact them for assistance and aid.

Generally, many people tend to ignore the importance of these photoluminescent safety signs. For all you realize, these safety signs will be helping you in times of need. Fire-related incidents bring dangers to both life and property and if such fact will be ignored if not forgotten, the possibility of sustaining injuries and losses will eventually increase.
